You’ll need to be at the top of your game to outrun this year’s Zoo Stampede animal representative — the Jaguar!
About Jaguars
- Speed: Known for their explosive bursts of speed, Jaguars can reach up to 50 mph, making them one of the most powerful predators in the Americas.
- Description: Jaguars are the only living members of the Panthera genus native to the Americas and are the third-largest big cats in the world, behind only tigers and lions.
- Spotting: Though often mistaken for Leopards, Jaguars have larger, more complex rosette-shaped spots that frequently feature a dot in the center.
- Habitat: Their range stretches from the Southwestern United States through Mexico and Central America, deep into the Amazon rainforest, and as far south as Paraguay and northern Argentina.

- Swimming: Excellent swimmers and skilled ambush predators, Jaguars are powerful symbols of speed, stealth, and strength.
