You’ll need to be at the top of your game to outrun this year’s Zoo Stampede animal representative — the Jaguar!

About the Jaguar

• Speed: Known for their explosive bursts of speed, Jaguars can reach up to 50 mph.
• Power: They are one of the most powerful predators in the Americas.
• Species: Jaguars are the only living members of the Panthera genus native to the Americas.
• Appearance: They have larger, more complex rosette-shaped spots than Leopards, often featuring a dot in the center.

Habitat

• Range: Their range stretches from the Southwestern United States through Mexico and Central America, deep into the Amazon rainforest.
• Location: Their habitat extends as far south as Paraguay and northern Argentina.
• Skills: Excellent swimmers and skilled ambush predators.
• Symbolism: Jaguars are powerful symbols of speed, stealth, and strength.
