Caleb Smail Memorial 5k

Event Overview

• Date: August 16, 2026
• Location: 125 Bethlehem Community Park, Wheeling, WV
• Activities: 5K race, Cornhole tournament, raffles, family fun, and food
• Purpose: To honor Caleb Smail’s legacy and spread kindness in the community

Beneficiary

• Proceeds: Benefit Youth Services Systems
• Goal: Help local youth access vital resources and programs

Race Course

• Course Description: Well-marked with volunteers at all turns
• Starting Point: Near the playground at the Community Park
• Route: Includes Oak Drive circle, Chapel Road, Emerson, and back to the park
• Course Map: Will be available at the race

Important Deadlines

• T-Shirt Deadline: Register by August 1st to guarantee your Race Shirt
• Race Time: Starts promptly at 9am

Awards

• 5K Run Awards: Top 3 Overall - Male/Female
• 5K Run Age Groups: 1-29, 30-49, 50-59, 60 & over
• 5K Walk Awards: Top 3 Overall - Male/Female
• 5K Walk Age Groups: 1-49, 50-59, 60 & over

Awards Ceremony

• Timing: 10 minutes after the last runner crosses the finish line
• Age Group Adjustments: Based on previous year’s entries

Walking Rules

• 5K Walk Requirement: Must walk the entire distance
• Rules: One foot must be on the ground AT ALL TIMES
• Consequences: Violating rules may result in transfer to the run division without refund
• Parent Guidance: Please instruct your children about the Walking rules
