What is a Tunnel To Towers Climb?

The Tunnel to Towers Climb Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. We honor all of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and support our first responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty! • Location: 42 Jackie Robinson Way, Fredericksburg, VA

• Start Time: Climb begins immediately following opening remarks at 8:00 AM

Climbing Information

• Climb Path: You will be following the aisles through the stadium seating, starting in Section 1 and climbing through section 23, 5 times.
• Challenge: This is a challenge by choice event: you do not have to climb all the way to the top floor.
• Bailout Floors: There will be several opportunities to bail out at the top of each aisle with water stations available.
• Medical Assistance: Medics will be on the premises in the event of an emergency.

Registration and Packet Pickup

• Packet Pickup: Sunday, September 13th starting at 7:15 AM at the Virginia Credit Union.
• Event T-shirt: All participants who register in advance will receive an event T-shirt.
• Entry Requirements: All participants must have their bibs in order to participate in the event.
• Bag Policy: Please refer to the stadium’s bag policy: stadium bag policy.

Participant Experience

• Pace: Please climb at your own pace: this is not a timed climb.
• Resting: Climbers can stop on a landing to catch their breath, ideally at the top of the aisles.
• Accessibility: Participants who do not wish to climb stairs can use the walking path around the concourse, which is wheelchair accessible.
• First Responders Gear: First responders are encouraged to wear their bunker/turnout gear.

Fundraising and Donations

• Fund Utilization: Funds raised will honor first responders and military heroes, benefiting various programs.
• Tax Deductibility: The entry fee is not tax-deductible: however, additional donations are.
• Fundraising Post-Event: Fundraising can continue beyond the date of the climb, up to December.
