Heroes have made such a big impact at Cunningham that our Be a Hero 5K now occurs annually and we are excited to invite you to this year's event.

Join us on Saturday, October 4, 2025 for the 5th Annual Be a Hero 5K. This year's race will take place on Cunningham's campus and will be miles of fun benefitting a great cause! This year's event includes “The Flash” race for all 5K runners and a “Hulk” walk for all 5K walkers. So, you can Be a Hero no matter your skill level. Special awards and recognition will be given for both.

🦸‍♂️ Feeling like a Superhero?

Participants who raise $100 will receive a Cunningham Hero Cape! Wear your official Cunningham Hero Cape on race day or anytime you are being a hero in your community!

💰 How does $100 make a difference at Cunningham?

• Residential Programs: $100 will help cover costs associated with art, music and recreation therapy for our kids.
• Special Education Programs: $100 will help cover the cost of sensory sets for classrooms.
• Community Services Programs: $100 will cover the cost of a “startup kit” for young adults transitioning into independent living: items include pots, pans, silverware, cleaning supplies, lamps, towels, and other household items that will make their first living space feel like home.

All proceeds from the Be a Hero 5K will help to meet the critical needs of the 977 youth and families served by Cunningham. Young people are referred to Cunningham for many reasons, including a history of abuse, neglect, trauma and mental health issues. Many have experienced rejection and loss. Cunningham offers opportunities for healing and hope across our three areas of services – residential treatment, special education and community-based services. Cunningham Children’s Home is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. All donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
