Little River Run 5K

Event Overview

Join Keep Blount Beautiful (KBB) and Little River Watershed Association (LRWA) for the 8th Annual Little River Run 5K, set for 11 AM on Saturday, November 21st at The Abbey (7765 River Rd. Townsend, TN 37882). The Little River Run 5K is a joint fundraising effort that brings together hundreds of people to celebrate the beauty of Blount County, and all proceeds from the event benefit KBB and LRWA's free programs and events that focus on environmental stewardship.

Registration

• Options: Both in-person and virtual race options are available. Participants of all ages and skill levels are welcome.
• In-Person Race: A chip-timed event starting at 11 AM.
• Early-Bird Pricing: $25 until 11:59 PM on Monday, September 7th: $30 from September 8th: $35 from November 16th.
• Children: Ages 12 and under can register for $15 anytime.

Virtual Runners

• Awards: Virtual runners will not receive a chipped bib and are not eligible for awards.
• T-Shirts: Virtual runners should pick up their race T-shirts at pre-race packet pickup.

Course Description

• Certification: The race course is certified!
• Route: Begins at The Abbey and runs along a flat neighborhood course by the Little River.
• Connection: The course connects with the Townsend Historical Greenway before returning to The Abbey.
• Traffic: The course is not closed to traffic but is in a low traffic area. Watch a video of the racecourse here. You can view the race map here.

T-Shirts

• Guarantee: Runners should register by Wednesday, November 4th to be guaranteed a race T-shirt.
• Availability: Limited shirts available for late registrants: T-shirts for in-person only unless picked up on November 13th.

Awards

• Categories: Awards for top three finishers, both male and female, and based on age brackets.
• Time: Awards will be announced around 12 PM outside of The Abbey, weather permitting.
• Presence: Participants must be present to receive their award.

Pre-race Packet Pickup

• Date: Thursday, November 19th from 4:30-7:30 PM - LOCATION TBD.
• Race Day: Packet pickup from 9 AM to 10:30 AM at The Abbey check-in tent.
• Lateness: Those registering after November 19th will need to get their packets on race day.

Parking

• Timing: Please arrive early to ensure you get to the start line on time. Parking available by 8:50 AM.
• Location: Parking on the grass lot next to the Chocolate B'ar on Depot Ave. and additional at CBBC Bank.
• Overflow: Overflow parking at the grass lot next to the Townsend Post Office.

Volunteers

• Needed: Volunteers for setup, registration, parking, and course direction.
• Sign Up: Volunteers can sign up by clicking the Volunteer tab on the race website.

Post Run

• Waste Reduction: Please bring a water bottle: a filling station will be available.
• Post-Race Gathering: Hang out at The Abbey for lunch and/or drinks.
• Giveaway: Each runner receives a free giveaway ticket: prize giveaways announced after the award ceremony.

Weather

• Forecast: Historically, highs of 60 and lows of 38 in November.
• Attire: Dress sensibly: add 10 to 20 degrees to the outside temperature for running attire.
• Policy: Race personnel may delay, cancel, or modify the race due to inclement weather: no refunds or transfers.
• Safety: Participants must abandon the race if ordered by race personnel or emergency services.
