Saxonburg Truthahntrab 5k and 1K Fun Run

Race Overview

Join us for the Truthahntrab 5K and support the Knoch cross country and track teams while experiencing the charm of Saxonburg! Mark your calendars for 9am November 29th, the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Purpose of the Event

• Proceeds: All proceeds will directly support the Knoch cross country and track and field programs.
• Impact: Your strides will not only carry you towards the finish line but will also pave the way for promising athletes to pursue their passions.
• History: "Truthahntrab," meaning "Turkey Trot" in German, captures the essence of our Germanic roots dating back to 1832 when the town was settled by German immigrants.

Awards and Refreshments

• Unique Awards: You'll have the chance to earn unique turkey-themed race awards.
• Post-Race Snacks: Refuel with post-race snacks including Bavarian soft pretzels, hot chocolate, and coffee.
• Division Awards: We are adding additional awards for our popular team division, perfect for running/walking with family, friends, and co-workers.

Course Details

• 5K Course: The 5K is an out-and-back course starting at Roebling Park and taking a lap around town.
• Scenic Route: It heads out to the former Saxony Farms' rolling pastures and lake before returning and finishing at the park.
• Pavement: The course is almost entirely paved with a short gravel area near the turnaround/lake.
• 1K Course: The 1K will start shortly after the 5K start and complete one lap around town before finishing at the park.

Post-Race Activities

• Main Street: After the race, be sure to visit charming Main Street as we prepare to kickoff Small Business Saturday.
• Fun Run Ribbons: All 1K finishers receive a turkey trot ribbon!

Awards

• Trophies: Trophies for the top 3 overall male and female.
• Medals: Medals for top 3 in each age group (trophies awarded to winners in 0-9, 10-14, 15-19).
• Age Groups: Age groups are 0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70&up.
• Team Awards: Top 3 teams will receive awards based on total time of top 3 runners with no gender requirements.
• Fun Run: All Fun Run participants receive a fun turkey ribbon.

Registration Information

• Online Registration: Online registration closes at noon on Friday 11/28.
• In-Person Registration: You may register in-person at packet pickup Friday evening OR the morning of the race starting at 7:30am.
• Payment: We will only accept EXACT cash, check, or Venmo for in-person registrations (no credit cards for in-person).
• Packet Pickup: Packet pickup will be Friday 11/28 from 5pm to 6:30pm at Speckled Hen Chocolate Company, 656 Saxonburg Blvd, Saxonburg, PA 16056.
• Pricing: Discounted registration ($20) for ages 15 and under, $35 for everyone else.
• T-Shirt Guarantee: Register by Sunday, November 16th to guarantee a t-shirt.
