History

• Tradition: Experience one of the oldest road runs in North Carolina.
• Annual Event: Held annually since 1979, except for 2020 due to the pandemic.
• Course: USATF certified course primarily along streets lined with azaleas and dogwoods.

Purpose

• Organizer: The event is facilitated by the Sunrise Kiwanis of Goldsboro.
• Fundraiser: Supports children and youth in the community.

Race Details

• Routes: 10K run, 5K Run/Walk, and 1-mile Fun Run routes are downtown.
• Starting Location: Near The Hub at Center and Chestnut Streets.
• Starting Time: All events begin at 9:00 AM.
• Registration Location: The Hub, 200 S. Center St., Southeast corner of S. Center Street and W. Chestnut Street downtown Goldsboro.

Entry Fees

• 5K & 10K: $30.00 pre-registration, $40.00 race day registration.
• 1 Mile Fun Run: $20.00 pre-registration, $15.00 each for 2 or more members of the same immediate family.
• Pre-registration Deadline: 11:00 PM, Wednesday, March 31, 2027.
• On-site Registration: Begins at 7:00 AM on race day.

Awards

• 5K and 10K Runs: Trophies for First Place, Silver Medallion for Second Place, Bronze Medallion for Third Place, Medallions for the First Three Places in each age group.
• 1 Mile Fun Run: Medal for each participant.

• 5K Walk/Run & 10K Run: Age groups include under 15, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+
• 1-Mile Fun Run: Open to all ages.

Timing

• Timing Method: Electronic bib timing by Run the East LLC.
• Packet Pickup: Available at check-in for pre-registered entrants on the morning of the run.
• Race T-shirts: Provided to all participants that pre-register in various sizes.
• Early Pickup: Available from 5:30–6:00 PM on Friday, April 2nd at the Goldsboro Fire Department.
