5K on the Runway benefiting the P47 Foundation INC

Event Overview

It is presented by the Evansville Wartime Museum, the P-47 Foundation and the Evansville Regional Airport with our title sponsor, the Liberty Federal Credit Union.

How exciting it will be to run on our airport runway!!!! Take off on Saturday, May 2, 2026 for the 2026 5K on the Runway presented by the title sponsor, Liberty Federal Credit Union, benefiting the Evansville -47 Foundation, Inc. giving runners a unique view of the airport and the Evansville Wartime Museum, while having fun and supporting a great, local organization.

Event Details

• Date: Saturday, May 2, 2026
• Location: Evansville Wartime Museum, 7503 Petersburg Road, Evansville, IN 47725
• 5K Run Start: 9 am
• 1 Mile Walk Start: 8:45 am

Kid's Dash

The Kid’s Dash race will be held at 8:30 am.

• Ages: Children ages 1-9 are invited to participate.
• Distance: 1-3 year olds - 50 meters: 4-6 year olds - 100 meters: 7-9 year olds - 150 meters.
• Cost: $5, includes a medal.
• Youth T-shirts: $12 during registration until April 2, 2026.

Make a Difference

All proceeds from the 5K on the Runway will support the mission of the P-47 Foundation by protecting and procuring in perpetuity the P-47 Thunderbolt in an effort to honor those who served and to educate current and future generations in the sense of community pride, recognition, and respect attributed to all who sacrificed in the name of Freedom.

Awards and Recognition

• Overall Awards: First place trophies for overall male and female runners in the 5K.
• Age Group Medals: First place medals for male and female winners in each age bracket from 1-9 to 80-99.
• Results: Online results available immediately following the event.
• Timing: The race will be officially timed by “To the Finish.”

Registration Information

• Registration Fees: $25 until February 14, $30 afterwards, $35 from April 30 to May 2.
• Registration Includes: Event T-shirts for both events.
• Kid’s Dash Registration: $5, includes a participation medal.
• Deadline: Register by April 2, 2026, to guarantee your shirt size.

Parking and Accessibility

• Parking Locations: SRG Global (Former Whirlpool Building) and Anchor Industries with shuttle service provided.
• Handicap Parking: Available at the Evansville Wartime Museum with prior notification.
• Valuables Safety: Secure building location provided for valuables.
• Early Arrival: Highly encouraged to save parking spots.

Additional Opportunities

Following the event starting at 11 am, children ages 8-17 can participate in free flights sponsored by the Young Eagles Program. Limited seats are available: sign up online before the event.
