5K on the Runway benefiting the P47 Foundation INC

Event Overview

It is presented by the Evansville Wartime Museum, the P-47 Foundation and the Evansville Regional Airport with our title sponsor, the Liberty Federal Credit Union.

How exciting it will be to run on our airport runway!!!! Take off on Saturday, May 2, 2026 for the 2026 5K on the Runway presented by the title sponsor, Liberty Federal Credit Union, benefiting the Evansville -47 Foundation, Inc. giving runners a unique view of the airport and the Evansville Wartime Museum, while having fun and supporting a great, local organization.

Race Details

• Date: Saturday, May 2, 2026
• Location: Evansville Wartime Museum, 7503 Petersburg Road, Evansville, IN 47725
• Start Time: 5K run at 9am: 1 mile at 8:45 am: Kid’s Dash at 8:30 am
• Route: Participants will run along the Evansville Regional Airport runways and ramps, and see various aircraft and military displays.

Proceeds and Impact

All proceeds from the 5K on the Runway will support the mission of the P-47 Foundation by protecting and procuring in perpetuity the P-47 Thunderbolt in an effort to honor those who served and to educate current and future generations in the sense of community pride, recognition, and respect attributed to all who sacrificed in the name of Freedom.

Stick around afterward for award presentations, delicious food, coffee, and vendors with their running apparel and other community programs.

Awards and Recognition

• Trophies: First place trophies will be awarded to the overall male and female runners in the 5K event.
• Age Group Medals: Awards will be given to first place male and female winners in each age bracket from 1-9 to 80-99.
• Results: 5K runners will be chip-timed with results available online.
• No Refunds: Please note that all registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Registration and Fees

The 5K run/walk and the 1 mile walk registration will have a “SWEETHEART” deal with registration fees at $25 until February 14th and $30 afterwards. From April 30 to May 2, 2026, the registration fee increases to $35. Registration for both events includes event t-shirts.

Kid’s Dash: Registration fee is $5 and includes a participation medal. Youth t-shirts are $12 and available online during registration through April 2, 2026.

Parking and Accessibility

• Parking Encouraged: It is highly encouraged you ride with family or friends to save parking spots.
• Parking Locations: Available at SRG Global and Anchor Industries with shuttle service provided.
• Handicap Parking: Available at Evansville Wartime Museum: advance notification required.
• Valuables: Plastics bags will be provided for your valuables: not responsible for loss or theft.

Additional Information

Following the event starting at 11am, free flights for children ages 8-17 will be offered through the Young Eagles Program. Limited seats available and registration is required.
