🌅 Race Overview
The Rising Sun depicts rays of light spreading in all directions without clouds and honors the day or auspicious events. The Rising Sun flag is used in everyday life in Japan, such as to celebrate a big catch by fishermen, childbirth and other festivities. Our 5k will embody the spirit of the Rising Sun to celebrate the day starting with a karate style warm up and finishing with celebratory board breaking after you cross the finish line!
🎖️ Participant Experience
- Custom Items: All participants will receive a custom bib, finisher medal, and Rising Sun t-shirt.
- Little Dragons Run: We will also have a 1 mile run/walk for the Little Dragons or anyone who wishes for a short stroll through John Prince Park and will also receive a custom bib, finisher medal, and Rising Sun t-shirt.
- Board Breaking: Participants will have the opportunity to break a board!
- Charity Support: The funds we are raising benefits the Kick Start Foundation of Palm Beach which helps at-risk and underprivileged children.
🏆 Awards and Timing
The Rising Sun 5K is a chip-timed event and will provide awards to the top 3 overall (male and female) as well as age groups.

Not able to attend the race on February 22nd? A virtual option is available for those who cannot make it or live outside South Florida.

- Friday: February 20, 2026 - 5:00 to 7:00pm
- Saturday: February 22, 2026 - 10:30am to 1:00pm

- 6:15am: Park gates open
- 6:30am: Registration and Packet Pickup Open
- 7:15am: 5K Fitness Warmup
- 7:25am: Announcements and National Anthem
- 7:30am: Start of the Rising Sun 5K
- 7:40am: Start of the Rising Sun 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
- 8:45am: 5K Awards Ceremony
