The Race Director, Chris Schaefer, is an Ambassador for Brace for Impact and had his own first mission trip to Petionville, Haiti in 2014, so the organization is near and dear to his heart.

Cliff Cave County Park is a 525-acre public park named after Cliff Cave, the natural cave located in the park dating back to 1749. It's been operated as a tavern for traders traveling the Mississippi during the 18th century, sold to the Cliff Cave Wine Company in 1868, and served as a recreation spot for volunteer soldiers from the nearby Jefferson Barracks in the late 1800s. St Louis County Parks purchased the property in 1969. In 2009, the cave was gated off to the public to protect the archeological artifacts inside as well as a population of Indiana Bats (endangered species) that have made the cave their home.
