🏃‍♀️ Race Overview

Roads close at 8 a.m., warm-up is at 8:15 a.m. and 5K begins at 8:30 a.m.

Novice or advanced runners of all ages are invited to attend the 19th Annual Get Ready! Get Set! Get Fit! 5K Run/Walk and One-Mile Walk to support older adult health and fitness by raising much-needed funds for County senior exercise classes and fitness centers.

📍 Event Details

One-Mile Fun Walk: Perfect for our youngest and oldest participants.
5K Race: Chip-timed and professionally managed by Charm City Run.
Health Screenings: Free fall prevention and health screenings will be offered.
Parking: 5K runners and walkers park in Lot 1: one-mile walkers park in Lot 2.

The entirety of the route will be on the campus of CCBC Essex. For safety reasons, the race course is closed to animals, bikes, skaters and baby joggers or strollers.

🎽 Amenities

Participants will receive:

T-shirt: A complimentary Technical long sleeve moisture-wicking T-shirt (guaranteed up to the first 1,000 registered).
Water: Water on the course and at the finish line.
Refreshments: Post-race refreshments available.
Door Prizes: Entry into door prize drawings sponsored by Van Dyke and Bacon Shoes. Must be present to win.

🕒 Schedule

The event will be held rain or shine. There are no refunds if participants are unable to attend after registering.

6:30 a.m.—Registration opens, sponsor and exhibitor set-up.
7:30 a.m.—Health and fitness screenings.
8 a.m.—Event begins, race course roads close to the public.
8:15 a.m.—Warm-up (on your own).
8:30 a.m.—5K race begins in parking lot 2.
8:35 a.m.—One-mile walk begins in front of wellness building.
9:45 a.m.—Awards ceremony.
11 a.m.—Event ends.

💵 Registration Fees

Seniors (60 and older): $28.50 ($23.20 before 8/23)

Adults (18-59):

$33.80—Early Bird Special: Register by August 22
$44.40—Between August 23 and September 20
$49.70—Day of the Race - all ages

Juniors (6 to 17): $28.50 ($23.20 before 8/23)

Children (5 and under): Free (Registration required, no shirt provided)

🌐 Virtual Race Option

We have created a virtual race option for those who would like to participate but are not local, or are unable to attend the in-person race. Here's how the virtual race works:

Registration: Register for the virtual event, and sign up for text or e-mail notifications.
T-shirt Pickup: Unfortunately, we are unable to mail any of the virtual race shirts. You can pick up your shirt at the Packet Pick-up location.
Notification: You'll receive a text or email (if you opt in) when the race "starts" on September 21st.
Submit Results: Run your race and submit your results either by text message or email or by heading to the results page here by September 21st at 11:59 PM Eastern Time.

*Virtual race performances are not eligible for the event awards.

👥 Team Registration

Build morale, camaraderie and community by forming a team with your senior center, company, social club, family or friends. We encourage you to wear team t-shirts on race day!

The fastest three male and female 5K finishers.
The top two male and female runners in the following age categories:

90 and over

🎁 Door Prizes

Random door prizes will be awarded, including four Fitness Pays VISA gift cards, worth $200 (1 count) and $100 (3 count), sponsored by Van Dyke and Bacon Shoes.
