Thank you for your understanding!
We will be collecting new, unwrapped toys during the Reindeer Dash and bib pick-ups in partnership with United Way of Martin County, the local coordinating organization for Toys for Tots. All toys collected will be distributed to economically disadvantaged families in Martin County to ensure every child has a toy underneath the tree.
Toys for Tots, a 70-year national charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, provides happiness and hope to disadvantaged children during each Christmas holiday season. The toys, books and other gifts collected and distributed by the Marines offer these children recognition, confidence and a positive memory for a lifetime. It is such experiences that help children become responsible citizens and caring members of their community. Last year the Marine Corps fulfilled the holiday hopes and dreams of 7 million less fortunate children in 792 communities nationwide. Since 1947 over 244 million children have been assisted. For more than thirty-five years, The Junior League has prepared women to lead... to challenge the status quo for the vital purpose of enhancing the social, cultural and political fabric of our civil society. Today, The Junior League of Martin County (JLMC) spearheads initiatives that will advance women's leadership and increase our community impact. Our approach is simple. Through hands-on training and formal learning opportunities, we give women the skills they need to improve the quality of life in the communities they serve. In continuation of our League's tradition of identifying problems and finding solutions in a collaborative way, we align our initiatives within three impact areas: women, children, and civic leadership. Examples of our recent community impact initiatives include providing supplies to young adults aging out of foster care: updating the reading walk at 10th Street Community Center: and providing scholarships to Martin County graduates.
