50th Annual - Race for the Grasshopper 5K

🥇 Event Overview

This is a special year for 2 reasons, this is the 50th Annual Race for the Grasshopper 5K as well as our country's 250th year anniversary! This is a special year for this event and we will treat it as such. Please get registered early because it will sell out. We are looking at some special medals or prizes for this year's event!

⚔️ Historical Background

At the close of the Battle of Cowpens in 1781, two American officers—confident in victory—raced for the ultimate prize, a British three-pounder cannon, called the “Grasshopper”.

📅 Race Details

• Start Time: The race will start at 8:30am on January 10th
• No Race Day Sign Up: No Race Day Sign Up is available
• Refund Policy: We will not be able to offer refunds or Deferrals - Weather can be an issue in January: some years we have to reschedule for safety.
• Early Packet Pick Up: Friday, January 9th, 5pm-7pm at Gotta Run Spartanburg

🏃‍♂️ Packet Pick Up

• Race Day Packet Pick Up: Saturday Jan 10th, 7:00am- 8:15am at Cowpens Battlefield Office parking lot
• Bib Numbers & Shirts: Can be picked up the morning of the race or Friday January 10th from 5-7pm at Gotta Run Spartanburg.
• Course Video: You can view the course video here.
• Course Type: The course is a single loop course on the paved road at Cowpens Battlefield.

• Age Group Awards:
• Age Ranges: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 & over
