Awaken 5k / 1 mile walk

🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

Join us on Oct 25th at 8am for the 1st Awaken Church 5k fun day.

Awaken Outreach & Church would like to welcome you to our first 5k run/walk event. This is a timed event to benefit our Outreach center with proceeds benefiting our weekly food pantry, monthly Community Days and services, Yearly Days of Hope, Thanksgiving, Hope for Christmas & Disaster Relief.

Where: Awaken Church, 390 Flamingo Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33954

🗓️ Schedule

• 6:30 am: Check-In for Runners
• 8:00 am: 5K Run Begins w/ Walkers following
• 9:15 am: Awards Begin AFTER THE LAST RUNNER
• Kids: 1 mile run (not sure when to start them)

🏁 Course Condition

The course is very flat with well-marked County streets.

Race info: 5k timed walk/run includes a t-shirt, chipped bib, & finishers medal.

🍽️ Food and Snacks

Food and snacks will be provided to celebrate all participants.

🏆 Awards

Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in age groups of 10yr. increments including:

• Age Groups: 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+
• Overall Awards: custom made, Masters, Grand Masters, Senior Grand Masters, & Veterans.
• Trophy: for the church with the most runners/walkers.

🎟️ Silent Auction and Raffle

There will also be a silent auction and raffle the day of the race. You will be able to purchase tickets at packet pickup and the day of the race, so bring some extra cash to help the Outreach center. Raffle and Silent Auction winners will be notified the week after the race.

💖 The Mission and Vision of Awaken Outreach

Our primary mission is to build relationships with our community, be kind, speak life, and show God’s amazing love to everyone who comes to us. Our secondary mission is to meet the physical needs of anyone who comes with dignity and respect. We are a place they can come to that is safe and offers a sense of community. Many of those served find themselves in the situation of having to decide between paying rent or putting food on the table for their family. Our goal is to end this.

Our Vision is for our city to be led to Christ, the people filled with kindness, the poor to be fed, the unsheltered to be housed, the lonely to have community, and the sick to get treatment. We look to see the local churches, nonprofits, and government working together with the understanding that our community is our mission field. We were created, trained, and equipped by God to serve this mission field at this moment in history.
