Hart-Miller Island Run

Race Overview

• Date: October 3rd, 2026
• Location: 2200 Rocky Point Road, Essex, MD
• Registration: Includes race shirt, transportation to and from the island.
• Participants: Limited to 120 registrants and 25 guests (one guest per registrant until limit reached).

Important Information

Note: There is no race day registration for this event.

IMPORTANT: IN ORDER FOR THE EVENT TO STAY ON SCHEDULE, PARTICIPANTS MUST BE PREPARED TO BOARD THE BOAT AT THE TIME SELECTED DURING THE REGISTRATION PROCESS. DUE TO THE TIME REQUIRED TO SHUTTLE PARTICIPANTS FROM PARKING AT ROCKY POINT TO THE BOAT DOCK, WE SUGGEST THAT YOU ARRIVE AT ROCKY POINT AT LEAST 20 MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR SCHEDULED BOAT DEPARTURE. PARTICIPANTS THAT MISS THEIR SCHEDULED BOAT DEPARTURE RUN THE RISK OF NOT BEING TRANSPORTED TO THE ISLAND FOR THE RACE.

Packet Pick-up

• Date: Friday, October 2nd from 4 PM - 7 PM
• Location: Charm City Run - Timonium
• Address: 1313 York Road, Timonium, MD 21093
• Race Day: Onsite at Hart-Miller Island starting at 7:30 AM (confirmation email required if not picked up in advance).

Event Timeline

• 6:30 AM: Rocky Point Park opens for participant parking
• 7:00 AM: First boat leaves for Hart-Miller Island
• 8:40 AM: Last boat leaves for Hart-Miller Island (no additional trips after this time)
• 9:30 AM: Race start

Amenities

• Race Shirt: All participants will receive a race shirt.
• Transportation: Shuttle and boat transport included.
• Refreshments: Light refreshments served post-race.
• Accessibility: Limited to registered participants and guests only.

Awards

Awards will be presented to the top three overall Male, Female, and Non-Binary Individuals and top male and female finishers in the following age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over.

General Information/Event Rules

• Travel Limitations: Only registered participants permitted to board boats.
• Personal Boats: Allowed to travel via personal boat without guest restrictions.
• Course Protocol: No deviation from the course permitted.
• Respectful Conduct: Be respectful of your surroundings: no animals allowed on the island.

Directions and Parking at Rocky Point

After going through the gate house, make an immediate right turn and follow signage to park in the grass lot adjacent to the Rocky Point boat launch. A staff member will provide directions. Click here for directions to Rocky Point Beach and Park. You will be shuttled from the parking area to the Maryland Environmental Service Pier (approximately a 5 minute ride).

Inclement Weather Policy

The Hart-Miller Island Run is a rain or shine event, and will proceed unless thunder and/or lightning is detected at race time, or other extreme weather is present. Standard practice is to wait 30 minutes after lightning or thunder is detected to begin the race. If conditions persist after 1 hour, the race may be canceled. Registration fees cannot be refunded.

Beneficiary

The race benefits the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Friends of Maryland State Park Foundation. The race is held in partnership with various organizations including the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Maryland Environmental Service.
