The Currituck Salt & Sound 10k, 5k and 1-Miler

Event Overview

Join us for the Salt and Sound 10k, 5k and Fun-Run, at the Currituck County Rural Center on Saturday, September 19th. Experience the area's waterfowl, wetland and the neighboring horses.

Race Course

• Scenic Route: This unique race will bring you along water thoroughfares, on boardwalks and straightaways to the edge of the Currituck Sound.
• Multiple Surfaces: The courses are scenic but not the fastest because you will be on multiple surfaces.
• Facilities: The courses will be well marked with chip timing, water stations and restrooms.

Participation Details

• Runners and Walkers Welcome: We recommend that strollers and dogs (leash required) start at the back.
• Dog Walking: If you don't have a dog and want to walk one, let us know as we have a limited number of friendly dogs onsite from the local animal shelter!
• Pancake Breakfast: Stay after the race for pancake breakfast.
• Community Engagement: There will be booths from various groups / organizations and an awards presentation.

Award Categories

Cattail 10k

• Overall Awards: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Male and Female.
• Age Division: Trophies to first 2 male and first 2 female finishers in each age category - 29 & under, 30-45, 46-59, 60 & up.

Boardwalk Breeze 5k

• Overall Awards: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Male and Female.
• Age Division: Trophies to first 2 male and first 2 female finishers in each age category - 29 & under, 30-45, 46-59, 60 & up.

Frog-Hop 1 mile Taxi-Trot

• Top Performers: Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female.

Wheelchair Division

• Top Performers: Top Male and Top Female.

Finisher Rewards

• Medals: All finishers in each race will receive a race medal.
• T-Shirts: First 150 registrants will receive a race t-shirt.
