Race Overview

• Event Type: The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama Kids Marathon is not a Fun Run. It is an innovative five month endurance building running/walking program designed for children kindergarten (K5) through 5th grade.
• Marathon Distance: Children will run the distance of a full marathon (26.2 miles) over the course of the five month program.
• Training Program: To achieve this goal, kids must train for the last mile of their marathon by running a total of 25.2 miles in increments between September 2026 through February 2027.
• Motto: Our motto is "if you had fun you won"!!!

Participation Details

• Activity: Students will run in PE class and/or with a parent and keep a log sheet to track their progress.
• Supervision: Mileage is based on adult supervision and the honor system.
• Finisher’s Medal: Each child will receive a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama Kids Marathon Finisher’s Medal when he/she completes the final mile on Saturday, February 20, 2027.

Registration Fees

• Early Registration: $25 (online registration only) until December 1, 2026.
• Registration: $30 (online registration only) until January 1, 2027.
• Late Registration: $35 (online registration only) until February 1, 2027.
• Final Registration: $40 (online registration only) February 2 - February 12 (LATE REGISTRATION. SHIRT SIZE NOT GUARANTEED. PICK UP ON RACE DAY.)

Important Policies

*It is our policy that we do not offer refunds or transfers of registrations. Children must be 5 years of age on race day to complete their final mile and you must be present on race day to receive your finisher’s medal.*
