Turkey Strut 5K

Event Overview

• 19th Year: We are now entering our 19th year of the Turkey Strut 5K!
• Participation Options: There is both an in-person and a virtual option.
• Result Submission: Virtual participants can complete their 5K or 1 mile from Thanksgiving Day through the following Sunday (results submission is optional).
• Packet Pickup: Participants can pick up their shirt and medal at packet pick up on Wednesday or opt for shipping during registration.

Event Details

• Open to All: Both events, the 5K and the 1 mile, are open to runners and walkers alike.
• Timing: The 5K is a chip-timed event: the 1 mile is not timed but has a clock running at the finish line.
• Beneficiary: This event benefits the We Care House of Winston-Salem.
• Community Impact: Participants are asked to bring at least 3 canned food items to donate to the We Care House food bank.

Location and Course

• Venue: The event takes place at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds.
• Parking: Plenty of parking and room for everyone.
• Certified Course: The course is a USATF Certified 5K course and a 1 mile fun run/walk.
• Course Features: The course runs near BB&T Field/Stadium, Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, and the Deacon Baseball field stadium.

Family-Friendly Fun

• Perfect for Families: Bring your family and guests for a great start to Thanksgiving morning.
• Strollers and Pets: Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome.
• Restrictions: No scooters, bikes, or wheeled recreational vehicles are allowed on course.
• Start Time: Place the turkey in the oven and join the fun at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds!

Awards and Participation Perks

• Awards: Turkeys will be given to the Top 3 Overall Male & Female and Top 3 Overall Masters Male & Female.
• T-shirts: All participants in the 5K will receive Long Sleeve T-shirts.
• Fun Run Option: One-mile fun run participants have the option to purchase a shirt during registration.
• Finisher Medals: Finisher Medals for every participant in both the 5K and one-mile fun run!
