Dean Williams Memorial 5k Run/Walk/Crawl

Event Overview

Please join us for our 30th year as we honor our fallen law enforcement heroes. These officers have made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety and protection of our city and its people.

In Memory of Our Heroes

• Ron Dean: #551, fatally wounded on December 16, 1992 while serving a search warrant.
• Dewayne Williams: #904, fatally wounded on March 3, 1993 while serving a search warrant.
• Supporting Special Olympics: Both officers were advocates for the Special Olympics during their careers.
• Run Participation: Shreveport Police Officers and others join to honor all fallen law enforcement officers.

Beneficiary

All funds raised are donated to Special Olympics Louisiana.

Saturday, April 18th 2026

• 1/2 Mile Fun Run/Walk: starts at 8:00 a.m.
• 5K Run: starts at 8:30 a.m.

Registration Fees

• Early Registration: $25.00 until April 3rd
• Late Registration: $30.00 from April 4th to April 17th
• Race Day Fee: $35.00
• Registration Location: Sportspectrum, 6970 Fern Ave., Shreveport (cash, check, or credit card)

Sleep-in Supporter

Don’t feel like getting up and running? Be a sleep-in supporter. You still get a shirt and you don’t have to break a sweat to get it!

Race Packet Pickup

Every pre-registered participant will receive an Official 2026 Dean-Williams Run T-shirt (limited to the first 300 registrations).

• Early Pickup: Sportspectrum on April 16th from 10 a.m.—6 p.m. and April 17th from 10 a.m.—5:30 p.m.
• Race Day Pickup: from 7:00—8:15 a.m. at the race site.

Course Description

The race will begin near the Veterans Memorial on the Clyde Fant Parkway. Runners will head north on the Parkway to the Police/ Fireman’s Memorial turn around and head back to the finish.

Awards

• Overall Winners: Male & Female categories will receive awards.
• Age Group Winners: 1st & 2nd prizes for male & female in categories 13-under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & up.

Law Enforcement Awards

• Overall Winners: Male & Female categories will receive awards.
• Age Group Awards: 1st & 2nd prizes for male & female in categories 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & up.

Special Note

Under RRCA regulations, absolutely no baby joggers, bikes, skateboards, or rollerblades will be allowed. No dogs allowed on course.
