DMTL Presents: A Healthy KSU 3K & Health Fair 2025

🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

On Saturday August 23, 2025, DMTL Nonprofit Organization will host A Healthy KSU 3K. Our vision is to decrease the health disparities within and among KSU students, alumni, and the Frankfort community, bridging gaps to help achieve Health Equity!

👨‍🎓 About the Founder

• Founder: Kentucky State University alumnus Tyrie Nason Buchanan.
• Mission: Focus on health equity and mentorship.
• Inspiration: Personal losses to health-related issues among classmates.
• Legacy: Named after Buchanan’s mother and brothers lost to gun violence.

🤝 Our Collaborators

A collaboration and partnership with DMTL, Kentucky State University, KSU National Alumni Association, the City of Frankfort, local hospitals, and community-based organizations, was born and evolved into an official 3K and Health Fair event.

• Impact: Five successful events raising funds for cancer care.
• Support: Scholarships for KSU students.
• Services: Health screenings and education for the African American community.
• Goal: Address health disparities and build community awareness.

🏥 Health Disparities

Compared to their white counterparts, African Americans are at higher risk for various health issues. Alumni, family, and guests are encouraged to come together with purpose to bring awareness:

• Health Risks: Higher risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes.
• Community Focus: Foster awareness for sustainable health outcomes.
• Challenge: Address issues such as asthma, stroke, and obesity.
• Mission: Promote inclusivity and support healthy lifestyles.

🌟 Community Impact

Together through sponsorship and partnership we can connect and grow our community while providing education, resources, and support to continue closing the health gaps.

• Food: Enjoy FREE food and refreshments.
• Activities: Participate in music, giveaways, and fun activities.
• Awards: Attend award presentations for outstanding participants.
