22nd Sandia Snowshoe Classic 2026

Event Cancellation Notice

A significant winter storm is forecast for this weekend, and after reviewing the latest weather data, the Snowshoe Committee made the difficult decision to cancel the event, concerned about the safety of participants and volunteers. Registered participants received an email with further details and where to pick up swag. (Please check your spam mail if you don't see the email.) Thank you for planning to join us for this event and for your support of the Friends of the Sandia Mountains. We hope to see you next year.

Race Information

Join us for the 22nd Sandia Snowshoe Classic, presented by the Friends of the Sandia Mountains (FOSM) on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

Event Details

• Start Time: 11am at the lower-level parking lot at Sandia Crest
• Course: 5K tour of the beautiful trails in the Cibola National Forest
• Participants: Limited to 175 participants, ages 13 and older: run or walk in snowshoes
• Registration: No race day registrations. Register and join us!

Registration Information

• Fee: $45 which includes refreshments, swag, parking fee, and processing fee
• Refunds: No refunds, no rescheduling, and no transfer of entries
• Race Day: Receive your bib and giveaways at race day check in: no pre-race packet pick up
• Awards: Gifts for age group winners and cash prizes for the overall top three winners, male and female

• Course Map: Updated course map available at Sandia Snowshoe Classic map
• Snowshoes: Please bring your own snowshoes! Snowshoes are required to participate
• Timing: JackRabbit Race Management will provide timing
• Parking: Please plan to carpool to the Crest on race day since parking is limited

Proceeds

All proceeds go to the Friends of the Sandia Mountains for preservation and maintenance of trails as well as other US Forest Service resources. Thank you for your support!
