We are proud to announce that the Sons Of The American Legion Squadron 178 in Murrells Inlet is holding our 3rd annual 5K Fun Run on June 6th, 2026 at the American Legion Post 178 in Murrells Inlet, SC.

Call to Action

• Join Us: Participate in the 3rd Annual Sweat For A Vet 5K Run/Walk hosted by the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 178 in Murrells Inlet, SC!
• Virtual Option: Choose the virtual option and run/walk with us from your location! Runners and walkers are all welcome!
• Course Details: Our course begins and ends at the American Legion Post 178 in Murrells Inlet. It is a beautiful flat course with very few turns.
• Stand With Veterans: It is time to stand with our veterans and SWEAT FOR A VET AGAIN!

Purpose of the Event

The sole purpose of this event is to help us continue providing support to our LOCAL military veterans and their families. If you ran our race last year, you know that we are serious about helping our LOCAL veterans!

• Impact: Over $7000.00 in proceeds from last year's race were donated to LOCAL veterans organizations!
• Larger Goals: We hope to have a larger impact on our veterans and our community this year!
• Honor Our Heroes: "HONOR THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE US" means The American Legion pays perpetual respect for all past military sacrifices.

About the Sons of The American Legion

The Sons of The American Legion (SAL) was created in 1932 as an organization within The American Legion. The SAL is made up of boys and men of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the US military and became eligible for membership in The American Legion. This organization places its highest importance on:

• Preserving Traditions: Preserving our American traditions and values.
• Improving Lives: Improving the quality of life for our nation's children.
• Caring for Veterans: Caring for veterans and their families.

• Volunteered: Volunteered over 455,000 hours at veterans hospitals.
• Financial Support: Raised over $1,600,000 for VA hospitals and VA homes.
• Continued Service: Provide services to those in need in the LOCAL communities through programs such as this.
