Event Overview
Join us for our 15th Annual Folsom Firecracker on Saturday, 2026, July 4th. This community-oriented event is a fun and healthy way to kick off the 4th of July before your festivities with family and friends.
- Races Offered: 2 Mile, 5K, and 10K timed events.
- Course Details: Races travel primarily along the paved paths of the Lake Natoma bike trails and overlook the American River.
- Kids Fun Run: 1/4 Mile non-competitive race for ages 10 and under.
- Finisher Medals: All racers will receive a medal upon completion.
Awards and Recognition
Overall and age group awards are presented in all three timed races. Unique special divisions and awards recognize:
- Adaptive Athletes: Special awards for athletes with disabilities.
- Local Heroes: Awards for first responders, active military, veterans, and cancer survivors.
- Family Participation: Stroller entrants are recognized.
- Post-Race Celebrations: Enjoy complimentary sno-cones, refreshments, and vendor booths.
Registration Information
Race Registration: For the 2 Mile, 5K, and 10K, registration includes:
- T-Shirt: Race t-shirt included.
- Chip Timing: Official timing for accurate results.
- Awards Eligibility: Eligibility for age group & special division awards.
- Finisher Medal: A medal for completing your race.
Kids Fun Run Details
Kids Fun Run: This event will be approximately 1/4 a mile, held at 9:00am, open to kids aged 10 and under.
- Entry Includes: Bib number and finisher medal (race is not timed).
- T-Shirt Option: A t-shirt may be added for $5.
- Parental Participation: Parents may run alongside each child.
- Combined Registration: Kids registered for longer races can also join the Kids Run without additional registration.
Discounts
Youth Discount: A $5 discount is available for youth participants aged 1 to 17 for the 2 Mile, 5K, and 10K.
Military Discount: Reduced cost entry for all US Military - Active Duty, Veterans, and Reserves.
Race Distances
5K, 10K, and 2 Mile Courses are offered. See website for course maps.
- Course Start/Finish: All courses start and finish on Parkshore Drive.
- Family-Friendly: The 2 Mile is suitable for families, younger participants, and strollers.
- Scenic Routes: Tree-lined Jedidiah Smith Bike trail with views of the American River.
- 10K Challenge: Includes rolling hills for a more challenging run.
Race Day Schedule
The schedule is as follows:
- 6:30 AM: Registration opens.
- 7:45 AM: 10K Start.
- 7:50 AM: 5K Start.
- 8:00 AM: 2 Mile Start.
- 9:00 AM: Kids Fun Run Start.
Awards and Age Groups
Awards will be presented to:
- Top Overall Finishers: Male, female, and nonbinary based on gun time.
- Age Category Awards: Presented to the top three per gender in various age categories.
- Kids Run: All finishers receive a participation medal, not timed.
- Special Division Prizes: Top three finishers in each special division will receive a medal.
Packet Pick Up
Packet pick up will be held on Friday, July 3 from 3:30-7 pm at Fleet Feet in Folsom. ID is not required except for military discount registrants.
Parking Information
Parking (free) is available in the surrounding corporate parks of Parkshore Drive. Please be mindful of no parking signs and arrive early to find a space.
Participant Confirmation
A confirmation email is sent to each registrant once your online entry is submitted. A detailed participant confirmation letter will be sent prior to event day.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are needed on race day to assist with:
- Registration: Hand out t-shirts and bibs.
- Course Monitoring: Direct athletes on the course.
- Water Stations: Pass out water & Gatorade.
- Finish Line Support: Refreshments, awards, and medals distribution.

Special Division Detailed Information
Special Divisions are optional and allow you to enter in addition to your age group. Each division will still rank for awards:

- Adaptive Athlete Division: Open to athletes with physical, developmental, and/or intellectual disabilities.
