The Port Royal Mile: Run for History!
Kick off your fall racing season on Saturday Evening, September 12, 2026, with the Port Royal Mile! As the summer heat fades, this fast-paced, family-friendly event is the perfect tune-up for your autumn goals and a great way to enjoy the spirit of the Lowcountry together.
Run with a Purpose
- Support Heritage: Every stride supports the Historic Port Royal Foundation (HPRF).
- Community Connection: Your participation helps HPRF protect, preserve, and present the unique heritage of Port Royal.
- Weekly Events: HPRF keeps the community connected with weekly "Coffee and Conversation" every Wednesday.
- Third Thursdays: Join social gatherings to further engage with the local community.
Compete & Represent
- Individual Glory: Awards for the top three male and female finishers in every age category, plus overall fastest male and female honors.
- Strength in Numbers: Compete for the Most Participants Award by rallying your group.
- Rally Your Crew: Represent your school, place of worship, business, or military/first responder unit.
- Awards Ceremony: The awards ceremony will take place after the last race has finished.
Low Country Challenge
The Beaufort Track Club is challenging all runners from the Low Country and beyond to beat our fastest runners!
Race Categories
- Fun Run: Family-Focused fun run.
- Age Group Races: Competitive, chip-timed races across various age categories.
- Various Age Groups: Includes categories from 10 and under to 70 & over.
- All Runners: Eligible for Age Group Awards.
Race/Heat Times
- Registration: Starts at 5:00 pm at the Start Line.
- Race Start: 6:30 pm - One Race for all groups.
- Arrive Early: Please arrive a few minutes early to get ready!
- Facilities: Bathrooms will be available at the Start/Finish Line.
Packet Pick-up
- Friday Pick-up: September 11th from 11:00am – 5:00pm at Grounded Running, 2139 Boundary St Unit 108, Beaufort, SC.
- Race Day Pick-up: Available starting at 5:00 pm at the Start/Finish Line.
- Avoid Crowding: We highly encourage picking up your packet early.
- Race Location: Packet pick-up on race day at Paris Avenue and 8th Street (near Town Hall) in Port Royal.
Race T-Shirts
All participants who register by August 14th at midnight will receive a Port Royal Mile shirt. Extras will not be ordered or available on race day.
Awards
- Individual Awards: Based on the results from the competitive races.
- Gift Certificates: Overall Male and Female winners will receive a gift certificate from Ground Running.
- Medals: Awarded to the top 3 male and females in each age category.
Course Description
The Port Royal Mile is a one-mile CERTIFIED (SC26008JK) course on Paris Avenue in Port Royal, SC. The race starts and finishes near the clock at Town Hall (Paris Avenue and 8th Street). Quarter-mile markers will be present during the race.

We can always use volunteers to help with the Port Royal Mile! It's a great time and all volunteers receive a complimentary race t-shirt for helping. Volunteer jobs include:
- Course Setup: Assisting with course and post-race activity setup.
- Packet Pickup: Helping distribute race packets.
- Tear Down: Assisting in the clean-up after the event.

Refund Policy
No refunds or transfers. This event will be held rain or shine. In the event of extreme weather conditions or safety concerns, the race will be cancelled, and entry fees will be viewed as a charitable donation to the Historic Port Royal Foundation.
