The Port Royal Mile: Run for History!

Kick off your fall racing season on Saturday Evening, September 12, 2026, with the Port Royal Mile! As the summer heat fades, this fast-paced, family-friendly event is the perfect tune-up for your autumn goals and a great way to enjoy the spirit of the Lowcountry together.

Run with a Purpose

• Support a Cause: Every stride supports the Historic Port Royal Foundation (HPRF).
• Heritage Preservation: Your participation helps HPRF protect, preserve, and present the unique heritage of Port Royal and the surrounding region.
• Community Connection: HPRF keeps the community connected with weekly "Coffee and Conversation" and "Third Thursday" social gatherings.
• Make a Difference: Join us in making a positive impact through your participation.

Compete & Represent

• Individual Glory: Awards for the top three male and female finishers in every age category, plus overall fastest male and female honors.
• Strength in Numbers: We’re looking for the biggest team! Rally your group to compete for the Most Participants Award.
• Keep History Alive: Lace up and represent your crew at the event.
• Awards Ceremony: The awards ceremony will take place after the last race has finished.

Low Country Challenge

• Challenge Accepted: The Beaufort Track Club invites all runners from the Low Country and beyond.
• Beat the Fastest: Compete against our fastest runners.
• Join the Fun: Participate in the challenge and enjoy the spirit of competition.
• Open to All: Runners of all levels are welcome to join.

Race Categories

• Fun Run: Family-focused fun run with no awards.
• Age Group Races: Two heats (under 40 and 40 & above), chip-timed, with age group awards.
• Age Groups: Categories from 10 and under to 70 & over.
• Competitive Events: Chip timed with awards eligibility for age groups.

Race/Heat Times

The Fun Run participants will be timed but will not receive age group awards.

• 5:00 pm: Race Day Registration and Packet Pick-up at the Start Line.
• 6:00 pm: Fun Run (no awards).
• 6:20 pm: Under 40 Run (competitive - age group awards).
• 6:40 pm: 40 and over Run (competitive - age group awards).

Packet Pick-up

Packet and shirt pick-up will occur on Friday September 11th 11:00am – 5:00pm at Grounded Running, 2139 Boundary St Unit 108 in Beaufort, SC. You may also pick up your packet on race day starting at 5:00 pm at the start/finish line.

Race T-Shirts

All participants who register by August 14th will receive a Port Royal Mile shirt. No extra shirts will be available on race day.

Awards

Individual awards will be based on results from the competitive races:

• Overall Winners: The Overall Male and Female winners will receive a gift certificate from Grounded Running.
• Medals: Awarded to the top 3 male and females in each age category.

Course Description

The Port Royal Mile is a one-mile CERTIFIED (SC26008JK) course on Paris Avenue in Port Royal, SC, starting and finishing near the clock at Town Hall.

Refund Policy

No refunds or transfers. This event will be held rain or shine. In extreme weather or safety concerns, the race will be cancelled, and entry fees will be treated as a charitable donation to the Historic Port Royal Foundation.
