Desert Island Trail Runs

Course Description

• Location: The race start/finish is located at the motorized vehicle(OHV) staging area south of the Snyder Road trail head.
• Directions: At the end of Snyder where it T's with Gentry, turn right onto Golden Eagle and head down the road about a mile.
• Sign: Just after the big rock outcropping you'll see the Prison Hill Recreation Area sign on your left.
• Trail Types: Single track and double trail located within Prison Hill Recreation Area.

• Before 10/09/2026: 6K: $30 | 12K: $30 | 22K: $35
• After 10/09/2026: 6K: $40 | 12K: $40 | 22K: $45
• Race Day: 6K: $40 | 12K: $40 | 22K: $45
• Registration Time: RACE DAY REGISTRATION from 7:45AM-8:45AM CASH, CHECK or Zelle transfer ONLY– please don’t be late!

Series Information

• Event Name: Desert Island Trail Runs, formerly Love Can Be Cold.
• Series Status: It is the third and last event in our new Fall Series.
• Format: This series highlights the extensive trail networks surrounding Carson City, NV.
• Feedback: Your feedback is always welcome!

Event Location

• Start/Finish Area: The race start/finish will be at the Prison Hill OHV Staging Area south of the Snyder trail head.
• Check-in Time: 8am
• Race Start Time: 9am

Aid Stations

• Distance: 5K: No aid
• Distance: 10K: No aid
• Distance: 21K: 1 aid station at about mile 7
• Water Source: These stations will have water only.

Awards

• No Awards: There will be no finisher or division place awards.
• Affordability: We want to keep registration rates reasonable and affordable.

Packet Pickup

• Location: Bib #'s can be picked up race morning.

Weather

• Updates: We'll update as the event draws closer.

Directions

• From Reno: Take 580 S. to the Fairview exit. Turn left onto Fairview Dr. Make your second right onto Edmonds Dr. across from the National Guard Armory.
• From Carson Valley: Take 395 N to Carson City. Turn right at Aloha Liquors onto Snyder.
• Details: Follow Snyder east until the very end where it T's with Gentry/Golden Eagle.
• Final Leg: Just after the big rock outcropping on your left you'll see the Prison Hill Recreation Area sign.

Parking

• Availability: Should be plenty of parking.
• Instructions: Please park parallel to one another in an orderly manner to maximize the space.
