Warhorse Gallop 5K and Pony Trot

Event Overview

• Join Us: Bring your friends and family!
• Fundraising 5K: Supporting Charles D. Owen High School Cross Country and Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth, and Families.
• Race Details: A multi-terrain 5K surrounded by mountain views around the Owen High School campus.
• Pony Trot: 1K Kids Run for ages 10 & under on the track.

Date and Time

• Date: Saturday, May 30, 2026
• Start Time: 9 AM
• Registration Deadline: Ends 5/29 at 11:59pm for both the 5K and Pony Trot.

Location

• Where: Charles D. Owen High School track and stadium.
• Packet Pick Up: Race Day, Saturday May 30, from 8:00 to 8:45 AM.
• Packet Contents: Race bib and wristband for T-shirt (if signed up before 5/1).

Parking and Safety

• Parking: Available in the lower student parking lot, accessible from Lake Eden Rd.
• Signage: Visible signage to direct participants to parking area.
• Safety Regulations: Roller blades, strollers, bicycles, and pets are not allowed on the course.

Awards and Prizes

• Top Finishers: Medals and gift cards from the Mountain Running Store for the top three overall male and female finishers.
• Age Categories: Ages 12 & Under, 13 - 19, 20 - 39, 40 - 54, 55+
• BONUS Giveaways: Each participant’s bib number will be entered into a drawing for additional prizes after the event.
• Prize Sponsors: Gift cards from Blue Ridge Biscuit Company, Taco Billy, Dripolator, Mountain Running Company, and The Laundry.
