What is a Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk?

• Purpose: The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers.
• Tribute: Honor all of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and support our first responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty!

How far is a Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk?

• Distance: This is a 5K (3.1 miles). You are welcome to walk or run this event.

Registration Information

• On-site registration: Yes, registration will open at 7:00 AM on the day of the race.
• Online registration: Online registration will close August 21, 2026.

Event Details

• Timing: No, this is not a timed event.
• Packet pickup: Packet pick up will take place at Moncus Park on November 7th from 8 AM to 11 AM. If you are unable to pick up your packet early, you can pick up on race day.
• Race bib: Yes, please display your bib on the front of your outermost garment. Those who run without a bib will be asked to leave the course and will not be allowed to finish.

Runner Information

• Fast runners: Runners predicting a pace faster than 6 minutes/mile will be seeded in the front corral (arrive early).
• Water stations: Yes, a water station will be available along the route and there will be water available at the finish.

Event Guidelines

• Allowed items: Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted. Firefighter turnout gear and military backpacks are also permitted. Bicycles, roller blades, and pets are not permitted on the course.
• Valuables: Please leave all personal items and valuables in your vehicle. All items should be stored securely in your vehicle at the owner's risk. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation will not be responsible for the loss of any items.

Packet Pickup and Donations

• Proxy pickup: Yes, someone else can pick up your packet for you. They must present a copy of your registration receipt.
• Post-race donations: Yes, donations will be accepted for 6 weeks after the event.
• Sponsorship: Please send all sponsorship correspondence to Acadiana@t2t.org with your contact information and someone will be in touch with you within 24 hours.
• Donation of goods or services: You can contact us at Acadiana@t2t.org. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated.

Fundraising Opportunities

• Fundraising pages: Yes! Once you are registered, you will be given directions to start your own fundraising page, and you will be able to accept donations online.
• Registration fee and fundraising: Your registration fee does not count toward the fundraising goal on Run Sign Up. Registration fees help offset some of the expenses associated with making the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk one of the country’s greatest annual events, however your fundraising efforts enable us to continue to make a difference.
