Catamount Climb Half Marathon & 5K

Event Details

The 2026 Catamount Climb Half Marathon and 5K will be hosted on the campus of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC along the banks of the Tuckasegee River.

• Date: April 11, 2026
• Location: 379 Memorial Drive, Cullowhee, NC
• Website: Catamount Climb Half Marathon & 5K
• Course: 5K on campus with moderate elevation change: half marathon starts on campus, goes off campus, and returns for the finish line.

Organizers

The Catamount Climb Half Marathon and 5K (formerly known as Valley of the Lilies) is hosted by the Western Carolina University School of Health Sciences and the Department of Campus Recreation & Wellness.

• Proceeds: All race proceeds go to support student professional development.
• Scholarships: Funds will also contribute toward academic scholarships.

Race Packets

Each registered participant will receive a race packet that includes:

• T-shirt: A race t-shirt will be provided.
• Race Bib: Participants will receive a race bib.
• Coupons: Various coupons and other sponsorship materials will be included.
• Finisher Medals: Given to all half-marathon finishers.

Packet Pick Up:

• Date & Time: April 10th, 2026 from 3pm-7pm.
• Location: WCU Campus Recreation Center.
• Morning Pick Up: April 11th, 2026 from 6:30am - 7:30am at the same location.

Awards

Awards will be given as follows:

• Half Marathon: All finishers receive medals: awards for overall winners, master’s winners, and top three in each age group.
• Age Groups: 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
• 5K: Awards for overall winners, master’s winners, and top three in each age group.
• Age Groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
