Running of the Squares Brownwood

Race Overview

This is the first race of The Villages 2026-27 Running of the Square series.

• Date: Saturday, October 17, 2026

Time

• Start Time: 8:00AM

Distance

• Distance: 5K (3.1 mile) fun run

Registration Fees

• Pre-Registration: $25 until Sunday, October 11
• On-Site Registration: $40 from October 11 through day of event
• Includes: T-shirt and registration packet (while supplies last)
• Custom Bib: First 1,400 registrations receive a custom Brownwood 5K race bib

Packet Pickup

• Pre-Registered Packet Pickup: Friday, October 16, from 8:30am to 4:00pm at La Hacienda Regional Center, 1200 Avenida Central, The Villages, FL 32159
• Race Day Pickup: At the race site starting at 7:00am
• Alternative Pickup: You may have a friend or family member pick up your packet

Race Start and Finish Times

• Start Time: 8:00am (all participants must cross the start line by 8:05am)
• Road Closure: Start line closes at 8:05am: roads must reopen by 9:10am
• Finishing Time: Participants who do not finish within 70 minutes may be asked to move to the sidewalk
• Cooperation Requested: Appreciate the patience of local residents affected by the closures

Safety Regulations

• Prohibited Items: In-line skates, bounce boots, skateboards, and dogs on leashes are not allowed
• Baby Jogger/Stroller: Must start at the back of the starting coral for safety reasons

Awards

Finisher Medals

• Medals: All participants who complete the race will receive a custom event finisher's medal

Overall Awards

• Categories: 1st Place for 'Best Time' in Men’s and Women’s Categories

Age Group Awards

• Age Breaks: 14 & under, 5 year increments up to 90+

Team Place Awards

• Prizes: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place
