🕊️ Purpose of the Walk

• Inspiration: On Thursday, June 19th, Ms. Opal Lee will complete her annual 2.5-mile walk to recognize the 2.5 years it took for the news and enforcement of freedom to reach the enslaved people in Texas.
• Juneteenth: Now a national holiday, Juneteenth celebrates the freedom gained when slavery was abolished all across the country.
• Education: Unity Unlimited and Ms. Opal continue her walks to educate the nation on the importance of understanding that freedom is for everyone.

🌎 Become a Host City

• Goal: For 2025 and 2026, we invite organizations to Host a Branded Opal's Walk in their city.
• Objective: Aiming for at least one walk in 25 states in 2025 and one walk in all 50 states by 2026.
