Tidewater Strider Dismal Swamp 50K / Marathon /Half Marathon/50K Relay

Welcome to the 7th Annual Dismal Swamp /50K/Marathon/Half Marathon and 50k Relay

Join us on December 6, 2026, at the rest stop at mile post 4 Dismal Swamp, Chesapeake, VA for this exciting event!

Course Information

• Start Times: 50K & Relay starts at 7:00 am: Marathon/Half Marathon starts at 7:30 am.
• Course Type: The 50K is an out-and-back course, 3.88 miles each way, with 4 loops.
• Certification: The Marathon course is a USATF Certified BQ Course, consisting of 6.55-mile up-and-back loops.
• Fast Course: Very fast course for all races!

Fluids and Food

• Aid Stations: There will be 1 full aid station at the start/finish with food, water, and nutrition drinks.
• Water Stations: Water stations along the course set up for Marathon runners (9 times) and Half Marathon runners (4 times).
• Manned Stations: Manned stations will only be set up during the Marathon.
• Unmanned Station: An unmanned water station will be available near the 50K turnaround after the Marathon is complete.

Amenities & Post-Race

• Finisher Medals: All finishers will receive a medal, with special items for 50K, Marathon, and Half Marathon.
• BQ Shirt: All runners qualifying for Boston will receive a BQ shirt!
• Beer Garden: Enjoy a Beer Garden from 9 am-2 pm, redeemable afterward at Garage Brewery.
• Food: Pizza will be available for all participants.

Time Limits

• Start Times: 50K & 50K Relay at 7 am: Full Marathon & Half Marathon at 7:30 am.
• Finish Line: The finish line will close at 4 PM.

Awards

• Overall Awards: Top three males and females overall for 50K and Marathon/Half Marathon.
• Age Group Awards: Top three males and females in age groups: 39 and under, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over for the 50K.
• 10-Year Age Groups: Awards for Marathon & Half Marathon in 10-year age groups.

Registration

• On-Site Registration: Registration will be available on race day until the race starts.
• Strider Plus: Discounts for Strider Plus/Legacy runners will be applied at checkout.
• Club Discounts: $5.00 discount for club members available until race day.
• Forms: Paper entry forms are not available.

Packet Pickup

• Pre-Race Pickup: Available at Running etc VB on Saturday, December 5th, from 1-3 p.m.
• Race Day Pickup: Starts at 6:15 am until the Marathon and Half Marathon start.

50K Relay

• Team Registration: Teams should register under the same team name.
• Team Members: Teams can consist of 2 to 4 members.

Elite Field

• Elite Entry: Available for runners meeting qualifying times in the last 2 years.
• Contact: For claiming elite entry, reach out to Thomas at orangerunning@yahoo.com.
• Nutrition Tables: Nutrition drop tables will be set up on the course for the marathon.

Qualifying Times

• Marathon: Men: 2:40 | Women: 3:00
• 50K: Men: 3:15 | Women: 3:50
• Half Marathon: Men: 1:15 | Women: 1:22
