Mercy-USA x OMFRC presents: 5K Run for Yemen 2025

🏃‍♀️ Event Overview

Join Mercy-USA for Aid and Development and the Oakland Muslim and Friends Running Club (OMFRC) on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 12–3 PM at Bloomer Park (345 John R Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48307) for our 5K Run/Walk for Yemen—a community-powered fundraiser to support families in urgent need.

💰 Support Our Cause

• Proceeds: All proceeds will provide food baskets and water for displaced families in Yemen.
• Sponsorship: Just $150 sponsors a family for an entire month.
• Goal: Our goal is to raise $10,000 to feed over 65 families.
• Impact: Your participation makes a real impact!

🎟️ Ticket Information

This event is perfect for all ages and fitness levels!

Ticket includes:

• Lunch: A light lunch (main dish provided by Mercy-USA through Savvy Sliders Rochester (100% halal!)
• Potluck: Fun potluck of sides and desserts (bring something to share!)
• Activities: Field games for kids, access to the playground, and Bloomer Park’s scenic trails.
• Prizes: Finisher medals, t-shirts, and a chance to win awesome prizes for top fundraisers and race winners!

📅 Schedule

• 11:30 AM — Check-in & Registration
• 12:00 PM — Group Warm-Up and Opening Remarks
• 12:30 PM — Run/Walk Begins
• 1:00 PM — Potluck Lunch & Social Hour Begins
• 1:30 PM — Closing Remarks & Thank You
• 2:00 PM — Cutoff time for Timed Race--You must complete the course by this time if you want your time to be calculated by the timing agency

👕 T-Shirts & Medals

Available while supplies last—priority will be given based on sign-up date. If you registered later, we’ll coordinate a pick-up option after the event if needed.

💧 Water Stations

We’ll have water stations along the route to keep you hydrated.

🧼 Restrooms

Bathrooms are available on-site at the park for your convenience.

🍽️ Food

Light snacks will be provided post-run (first come, first serve!). The main course for a lunch is also provided by Mercy-USA and OMFRC, but there is a potluck for sides, snacks, and desserts, so please sign up to bring something to share!
