WICC The Surfside Hotel "Blues Are Running" 5K

🏃‍♂️ Race Overview

WICC and The Surfside Hotel invite you to kick off the "Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth" with a 5K race or walk raising money for MAKE A WISH.

The WICC & Surfside Hotel BLUES ARE RUNNING 5K - YEAR TWO! is hosted by WICC, The Surfside Hotel & Little Pub in the Lordship section of Stratford. The Surfside Hotel & Little Pub overlooks Long Island Sound as does most of the course!

🌊 Event Details

• Date: August 10th
• Location: 10 Washington Parkway, Stratford, CT
• Course: 5K (3.11mi) overlooking Long Island Sound
• Capacity: 250 people (register early)

🏅 Awards and Recognition

Everyone completing the full 5K is eligible for awards based on their computer time, with the TOP 3 Male & Female Finishers overall receiving prizes.

• Age Group Awards: Age groups include 9 & under, 10-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+

🎟️ Raffle Information

Every participant will be automatically entered into the raffle as part of their race fees. Additional raffle tickets may be sold to raise funds for MAKE A WISH.

• Grand Prize: Hotel stay at Surfside
• Second Prize: Tickets to a Wednesday night Clambake at Little Pub

🍔 Post Race Food and Beverage

As part of the entrants’ race fees, Little Pub will offer each 21 & older participant an adult beverage as well as a non-alcoholic option. Snacks, chips, and more will be available.

NEW ADDITION! The Lordship lobster truck will be open for pre/post 5K sales of lobster rolls (hot & cold), hot dogs, hush puppies, beer, wine, and more! Invite friends, family, and even perfect strangers for a great “after” picnic!

🗓️ Event Timeline

• 6/7: Registration Opens at $30 till 8/3 ($25 for 20 & under)
• 7/31: Guaranteed shirt size ends - Register in time!
• 8/4: Registration fee increases to $40 through 8/10 ($30 for 20 & under)
• 8/9: Early bib/shirt pickup at Little Pub picnic lot from 8:30-10 am
• 8/10: 7:45 am Event pickup starts at Little Pub picnic lot

When a wish is granted, a child replaces fear with confidence, sadness with joy and anxiety with hope. There are over 300 Connecticut children waiting for their wishes to be granted who count on donors like you to help make their wish come true.

Summer should be a time of joy for children, but wish kids often miss out due to their illness. A wish can change everything for these children - giving them the strength and hope they need to persevere in their fight against critical illness.
