2026 Lake Chabot Trail Challenge (Half Marathon & 5K)

Race Information

• Event: 42nd annual Lake Chabot Trail Challenge Half Marathon and 5K.
• Date: June 7, 2026.
• Start Times: Half Marathon at 8am: 5K at 8:30am.
• Location: 17404 Lake Chabot Road, Castro Valley, CA.

Course Description

• Half Marathon: Scenic, hilly loop on dirt fire roads with ridge-line views of Lake Chabot.
• Visibility: Mt. Diablo and San Francisco Bay can be seen along the route.
• Time Limit: 3.5 hours for the half marathon.
• 5K Course: An out and back route with gentle rolling hills, mostly on paved surfaces.

Race Fees

• Pre-registration: 5K - $40: Half Marathon - $65.
• Registration Deadline: June 6, 2026, for pre-registration: race day registration incurs a fee increase.
• Parking Fee: Nominal fee (~$5) for Chabot parking lot.
• Parking Options: Free parking available on Lake Chabot Rd and nearby streets.

Race Packet & Bib Pick-Up

• Location: Willow picnic site, starting at 7am on race day.
• Chip Timing: Both races will be chip-timed.
• Packet Distribution: No race packets will be mailed.
• Pick-Up Reminder: Arrive early to allow time for pick-up and preparation.

T-Shirt Information

• Included: Short sleeve, high-quality t-shirts for registrations by May 10th, 2026.
• Availability: No guarantee of t-shirts for registrations after May 10th.
• Size Selection: Ensure you choose the correct size: no exchanges will be made.
• Post-Race Check-In: Those without shirts may check in after the race.

Awards

• Finisher's Medals: Awarded to all participants who complete their race.
• Age Division Medals: Top 3 in each of 12 age divisions for the half marathon: 9 divisions for the 5K.
• Recognition: Celebrate your achievement with a medal!
