2026 Lake Chabot Trail Challenge (Half Marathon & 5K)

🏃‍♂️ Race Info

• Event Date: June 7, 2026
• Time: Half Marathon starts at 8am, 5K at 8:30am
• Location: 17404 Lake Chabot Road, Castro Valley, CA
• Important: Arrive early for parking and registration: race takes place rain or shine and no refunds.

🏞️ Race Course

• Half Marathon: Scenic, hilly loop on dirt fire roads with views of Lake Chabot, grassy slopes, and eucalyptus groves.
• Visible Landmarks: Mt. Diablo and San Francisco Bay along the route.
• Aid Stations: Water stations with first aid and radio support: recommend bringing your own hydration.
• Time Limit: 3.5 hours for the half marathon.

💰 Race Fee

• Pre-registration: Guarantee a t-shirt if registered by May 10, 2026.
• Pricing: 5K is $40, Half Marathon is $65 if registered by June 6: higher same-day registration fees apply.
• Parking: Nominal fee (~$5) for Chabot parking lot: free parking on Lake Chabot Rd and nearby streets.
• Payment Methods: Accepting cash, check, or Venmo for race day registration.

📅 Race Packet & Bib Pick-Up

• Pick-Up Location: Willow picnic site, starting at 7am on race day.
• No Mailing: Race packets or bibs will not be mailed out.
• Timing: Both races are chip-timed.

👕 T-Shirt

• Inclusion: Entry fee includes a high-quality t-shirt for registrants by May 10th.
• No Guarantees: T-shirts are not guaranteed for registrants after May 10th and on race day.
• Size Selection: Ensure correct t-shirt size as no exchanges will be made.
• Check-In: Those without a shirt should check in post-race.

🏅 Awards

• Finisher's Medals: Awarded to all who complete their respective races.
• Age Division Medals: Top 3 in 12 age divisions for the half marathon and 9 for the 5K.
