DMTL Presents: A Healthy KSU 3K & Health Fair

Event Overview

On Saturday August 22, 2026, DMTL Nonprofit Organization will host the Annual A Healthy KSU 3K & Health Fair. Our vision is to decrease the health disparities within and among KSU students, alumni, and the Frankfort community, bridging gaps to help achieve Health Equity!

Background

• Founder: Kentucky State University alumnus and A Healthy KSU and DMTL founder Tyrie Nason Buchanan.
• Mission: DMTL is a 501c3 nonprofit organization focusing on health equity and mentorship.
• Inspiration: Buchanan made a pledge to highlight healthy lifestyles and promote inclusivity for historically marginalized communities.
• Partnership: Collaboration with Kentucky State University, the City of Frankfort, local hospitals, and community-based organizations.

Event Legacy

• History: Six successful events held raising funds to support cancer care and research.
• Scholarships: Awarding KSU students with scholarships.
• Health Services: Providing various health screenings and health education campaigns to the Frankfort community.
• Awareness: Highlighting health disparities in the African American community.

Community Impact

African Americans are at higher risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, prostate cancer, triple negative breast cancer, poor maternal and infant health, asthma, stroke, obesity, and lack of access to medical doctors. Alumni, family, and guests are encouraged to come together with purpose to bring awareness of the health disparities in the African American community so that we can build sustainable outcomes for generations to come.

Together we can connect and grow community while providing education, resources, and support to continue closing the health gaps to help our friends, family, and communities thrive.
