Participant Gear
- Shirts: Runners will receive a limited-edition long sleeve cotton shirt and a one-size-fits-all winter hat and gloves.
- Availability: We have a limited number of shirts: once they are gone, they are gone.
Timing and Start Information
- Timing Method: We are doing old school manual timing, so please wear your bib on the front of your shirt.
- Recording: We will be recording your loops as you come into the start/finish area.
- Time Zone: We are in Central Time (same as Chicago). Please keep that in mind for those in the Eastern Time Zone.
- Start Time: 8:00 AM, with packet pick-up beginning at 7:15 AM.
Course Details
- Course Configuration: The course consists of 4 loops around the park, each loop is 3.4 miles in length.
- Trail Conditions: As of August 11, 2026, current dirt trails are closed due to a storm. A decision will be made closer to race day on trail availability.
- Marking: The course will be marked with flags, arrow signs, and survey tape on trees. Please follow the markings, not the runner in front of you.
- Cut-off Time: There is a 4 hour and 30 minute cut-off for the race.
Aid Station Information
- Location: One aid station will be provided at the shelter with water, Gatorade, and other pre-packaged snacks.
- Accessibility: You will be near your cars and bathrooms with each loop: you can retrieve any necessary aid at that time.
- Picnic Table: A picnic table will be set up if you would like to leave items there for each loop.
- No On-Course Aid: There is no aid provided on the course itself.
Awards and Recognition
- Overall Winners: No awards ceremony: overall winners will receive a Yeti figure and a Starbucks gift card.
- Finisher Prizes: All finishers will be able to pick an item from the “prize table.” Items include old race shirts, mugs, and hats.
Race Series Purpose
- Mission: The purpose of Crazy Legs Race Series (CLRS) is to promote non-pavement/pavement races in the Northwest Indiana region.
- Experience: Expect fun and challenging course design in a low-key atmosphere.
- Locations: Races will be held in parks or areas in the Lake, Porter, and Laporte counties.
Inclusivity Statement
- Participation: The Crazy Legs Race Series welcomes and encourages participation by all individuals regardless of sexual orientation, biological sex, gender identity, or gender expression.
- Transgender Runners: Transgender runners may register as the gender they identify with, and no documentation is needed.
Ancestral Acknowledgement
- Land Acknowledgment: The Crazy Legs Race Series acknowledges that the land on which we host our races is the seized territory of the Miami, Shawnee, and Illinois Nations.
- Additional History: Refugees from other nations, including the Lenape (Delaware), also resided in the area.
- Honoring Stewards: We honor those who have stewarded this land throughout the generations.
