🏃♂️ Race Registration Details
- In-Person Registration: You can register in-person Saturday morning on-site from 9-11AM or Sunday (race day) starting at 7:30AM!
- Shirt Availability: Limited extra shirts for those who miss the cutoff!
- Annual Event: This is the 29th Annual Joe Keany Memorial 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run.
- Date: Sunday May 31st 2026.
🥇 Race Overview
- Start Times: Gun time of 8:15AM for the 1 mile and 9:00AM for the 5K run.
- Course: The race takes place on a USTAF course from the North Country Road Middle School, through historic Miller Place.
- Anticipation: We are anticipating over 450 runners for this exciting annual event!
- Jogging Strollers: Jogging strollers are welcome!
💖 About Joe Keany
Joe Keany was a 1986 graduate of Miller Place who distinguished himself in both cross country and track. When he was a child, his mother was told by doctors that he would never be an athlete because he had problems with his feet. Well, that didn't stop Joe: during his high school years, he discovered running, and it became the passion of his life. He ran cross country, indoor and outdoor Track. He became captain and received All County and All Conference honors. He went on to run competitively at Cortland State University. He was regarded by his competitors as a tough competitor who would never quit. His teammates had said he was an excellent training partner and a compassionate friend. He passed away suddenly at the age of 28 from a brain aneurysm. Joe would be overjoyed to see all the runners and walkers of all ages and abilities take the time on a June morning and celebrate fitness, friendship, competition, family and friends.

- Guaranteed Shirts: Guaranteed shirts for those who register by 5/20 at midnight!
- Day-of Registration: Available on site from 7:00AM-8:30AM for the 5K and from 7:00AM-8:00AM for the Fun Run!
- Early Bird Bib Pick-Up: Early Bird Bib Pick-up and General Registration on 5/30 at North Country Road Middle School from 9-11AM.
- Registration Fees: 1 Mile Run/Walk $15.00 / Day-of $20: 5 Kilometer Run $30.00 Pre Race / $35.00 Day Of Race.
🏆 Awards Information
- 5K Awards: Keany Cup awarded to the 1st male and female MPSD student/alumni, Top 3 Overall Male & Female, Top 3 Masters Male & Female.
- Age Group Medals: Medals for the top three M/F in age groups from 8 & under to 80+.
- 1 Mile Awards: Medals to top five m/f finishers ages 12 and under, Ribbons to all finishers!
