Press Run Support
The Daily News Press Runs provides support to the Newspapers in Education (NIE) program. NIE brings educational resources that develop reading comprehension skills and critical thinking. Teachers are eager to join the program, and we need your help to make it a success!
Course Information
- USATF Certified: Courses ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Start/Finish: Bay Street Park, Texas City, TX 77590.
- Route: Scenic flat route with a gentle incline along Skyline.
- Chip Timing: Professional chip timing with proper bib placement required.
Pricing
- Kid's 1K: $15 until March 31: $20 after April 1: $20 on race day.
- 5K Run/Walk: $35 until March 31: $40 after April 1: $45 on race day.
- 10K Run/Walk: $40 until March 31: $45 after April 1: $50 on race day.
- Shirt Sizes: Guaranteed for participants registered by June 1.

Awards & Divisions
- Age Groups: 10 & under, 11-19yrs, 20-29yrs, and so on.

- 1K Participation: All 1K finishers will receive a medal.
Bag Drop Off
Bag drop is available at the registration booth for a $5 donation to the Newspapers in Education program.
Costume Contest
Celebrate Literacy Day by dressing as your favorite book character! Prizes are awarded for the best costumes in children and adult categories. A panel of judges will select the winners!

- Shirts: Performance t-shirts for 5K & 10K runners: cotton t-shirts for 1K runners.
- Availability: Sizes guaranteed for participants registered by May 1, 2026.
