XTERRA Appalachian Trail Fest is a premier trail running and hiking festival set deep in the heart of Appalachia. Featuring technical singletrack, sustained climbs, fast descents, and authentic mountain terrain, this event is designed for runners seeking challenge, community, and a truly memorable trail experience.

The Marathon and Half Marathon distances are official qualifiers for the XTERRA Trail World Championship in Malta (2027).

Whether you’re chasing a championship slot, pushing your limits on the trail, or sharing the experience with friends and family, XTERRA Appalachian Trail Fest delivers a race weekend that goes beyond the finish line.

• Marathon: 26.2 Miles – World Championship Qualifier
• Half Marathon: 13.1 Miles – World Championship Qualifier

A true Appalachian trail marathon featuring challenging elevation, technical terrain, and long stretches of rugged singletrack. This course explores Oak Mountain State Park iconography, will challenge your mental toughness, and respect for the Appalachias. Top performers will earn qualification opportunities for the 2027 XTERRA Trail World Championship in Malta.

Short, sharp, and challenging. The 10K delivers big trail energy in a condensed format, making it ideal for first-time trail runners, road athletes transitioning to trails, or anyone looking for a fast, fun race on dirt.

🎃 Halloween Hike

The Halloween Hike is a relaxed, post-race trail experience designed for kids, families, and friends of participants. This is a great opportunity for your support crew to get out on the trail and experience the environment you raced through — no pressure, no timing, just fun.

Costumes are encouraged, and all ages and abilities are welcome.
