Hope Childrens Fund 21st Annual Larry Hohler Bi-Continental 5k Fun Run/Walk

🏃‍♂️ Race Overview

The Hohler Memorial Bi-Continental 5K Fun Run/walk was created to benefit the children of Hope Children’s Fund (HCF).

Established in 2005, HCF is a New York State Licensed 501(C)3 organization dedicated to assisting orphaned children in Meru, Kenya. Through our comprehensive support, these children receive essential resources such as food, clothing, shelter, medical care, and educational opportunities.

🌍 Operational Model

• No Paid Staff: HCF has no paid staff or offices in the U.S., relying entirely on the efforts of passionate volunteers.
• Direct Donations: This ensures that 100% of every donation goes directly to benefit the children.
• Dedicated Team: In Meru, a team of twelve dedicated Kenyan employees manages the orphanage, currently home to 92 children.
• Educational Opportunities: These children receive immediate care and the chance to pursue their educational dreams, with many going on to complete college.

🏅 Race Details

IN-PERSON: This course is USATF certified (NY23098DNB) and sanctioned. Race will take place at Saint Anselm’s Episcopal Church, 4 Woodville Road, Shoreham, New York on Saturday, September 6, 2025. Race Day Check-in & Pre-Registration is 8-8:45am with the run starting at 9:00am. Medals & Shirts will be provided to participants that have pre-registered by 8/19/2025: finisher shirts for those who register after 8/19/2025 will be on a first come basis. The family pack includes 2 adults and 2 children.

This year’s event will feature even more family-friendly activities including a chalk art contest, rock painting contest, and more!

☂️ Rain or Shine

This run is a rain or shine event and will be on part of the North Shore Rail Trail.

💻 Virtual Participation

VIRTUAL: ANY TIME and ANYWHERE you choose up to Saturday, September 6, 2025: virtual participants can upload race time by 5pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025.

📅 Important Notes

• Shirt Availability: Please note that shirts are only for in-person participants and guaranteed for those who pre-register by 8/19/2025.
• Proceeds: All proceeds go to support the Jerusha Mwiraria Hope Children’s Home in Meru, Kenya.
