Race to the Sunset 5k

Race Overview

This is event #9 in the Race the Region Racing Series.

Event Details

• Date: September 20, 2026
• Location: 1600 N 25 E Rooftop, Chesterton, IN
• Website: Race to the Sunset 5k
• Registration: All participants must register online: online registration will remain open on race day until 6:10 PM.

Race Schedule

• 5:20 PM: Pre-Race Packet Pick Up available at Extra Mile Fitness Company.
• 6:20 PM: 5K Run Starts.
• 7:20 PM: Awards.
• Onsite Packet Pick Up: Available on race day beginning at 5 PM.

Entry Fee and Park Access

• Entry Fee: There is a fee to enter the Park.
• Bib Number Access: Prior to the race, participants can show their bib number or registration confirmation at the gate to enter without paying.
• Start Time: Race starts at 6:20 PM: participants must start before 6:30 PM.
• Disqualification: Anyone starting after 6:30 PM will be assigned the gun time for their start and will be subject to disqualification.

Race Features

"BECAUSE YOUR TRAINING DESERVES A GREAT RACING EXPERIENCE” race features include:

• Awards: Top Overall for Male and Female, Top Masters, and Top 3 in various age groups.
• Finisher Medals: Custom finishers medals for all participants: special finisher medal for those who finish before sunset.
• Timing: Timing mats at the starting line and chip timing for finish results.
• Live Results: Live results via text and email messaging: all turns will have directional signs.

Race Premium

• Size Guarantee: Race premium sizes are guaranteed to those registered by August 31st.
• Award Claim: Overall and Age Group Awards may be claimed within 14 days following the event.
• Location for Claim: The Extra Mile Fitness Co., 3400 Calumet, Valparaiso, IN 46383.
• Unclaimed Awards: After 14 days, all unclaimed awards will be donated or recycled.

Additional Notes

Participants that do not pick up their race shirt on or before race day are not guaranteed a shirt.
