NM ROUTE 66 "MOTHER ROAD" MINI MARATHON

🏃‍♂️ Race Overview

In 2026, the nation will celebrate the Route 66 Centennial, marking the 100th anniversary of the Mother Road serving the traveling public! Route 66 was one of the first continuous stretches of paved highway in the United States and served as a primary route for those migrating west.

RunFit is hosting the Mother Road Mini Marathon on Sunday, August 17, 2025, to kick off this year-long celebration. The event features a variety of races: a 6.6-mile run, a 6.6K run or walk, a 1-mile walk, and a .6 Kids K.

Join us for this special day as we celebrate the Mother Road with a run or walk along the iconic Route 66! Whether you prefer to run or walk, this event is for everyone!

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Albuquerque Little Theatre (ALT). For over 95 years, ALT has served the community by providing excellent live entertainment, educating adults and children, and offering opportunities for artistic expression. ALT continues the tradition of community theatre by delivering outstanding performances and allowing residents of the greater Albuquerque area to participate in live theatre production. As a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, ALT relies on the support of more than 500 volunteers who assist with various activities, including box office management, backstage work, on-stage performances, and board committee membership.

Runner Packet Pickup and Late Registration

• Time: 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Location: Heart and Sole Sports, 2817 San Mateo Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110
• Note: There is race-day registration, but pre-registered participants are encouraged to pick up their event packets at packet pickup.

⚠️ Important Information

Parking

Please use designated parking areas only. Do not park on San Pasquale Avenue or anywhere on the course as identified by the traffic cones and event signage. We ask that you respect the neighborhood by not blocking driveways.

Portable Toilets

Portable toilets are located near the start/finish. Please allow plenty of time to use the restroom.

Start Information

All races will start promptly at the designated times listed above. Allow plenty of time to get to the Start in order to seed yourself according to your projected pace time. This race is a Gun Start with a Timing Chip finish.

🚑 Medical Support

• Medical staff: Ready to assist you at any time.
• Event officials: Have the right to withdraw any runner from the race who appears distressed or at risk.
• Communication: Radio communications personnel will be positioned at every aid/water station along the course.
• Health concerns: Notify event officials or volunteers if you have a health problem at the Finish Line.

Allowed Items

• iPod/headphones: Yes, but not for athletes competing for prizes.
• GPS devices: Yes, but these will not count as official times or distances.

Prohibited Items

• Wheeled devices: Unauthorized wheeled devices, including skateboards and unauthorized bicycles, will not be permitted.
• Cell phones: Use is discouraged and may lead to disqualification if it poses a safety hazard.
• Strollers/wheelchairs: Allowed, but must start at the back of the runners/walkers.

• Refunds: No refunds, transfers, or deferrals are allowed.
• Packet Pickup: A friend can pick up your packet if you cannot.
• Conduct: Participants are expected to conduct themselves professionally and courteously.
