Event Overview

Celebrate National Mental Health Awareness Month by joining Iberia Mental Health Initiative for their annual Bayou Side Run. On Saturday, May 2, 2026, grab your person or persons to be “bayou” side as we race the streets of New Iberia raising mental health awareness and funds for Iberia Mental Health Initiative. Registration will include entry into the 5k or 1-mile run/walk, t-shirt, finisher medal and an experience of a lifetime. Chip timing will be used for the race.

Registration Fees

• Early Registration 5k: $30.00
• Early Registration 1 Mile Fun Run: $30.00
• Late Registration: April 12th - May 1st: $35.00
• Race Day Registration: 6:30am - 7:30am Onsite Cash Only - $35.00

Team Discount Registration

• Now till April 11th: $20.00 per individual for Early Registration Once 10 have registered
• From April 12th - May 1st: $25.00 per individual for Late Registration Once 10 have registered

Create a Run/Walk Team and invite your family and friends to join your team. Once the 10th member registers, the first 9 members will receive a $10 refund on their registration. Then everyone after that will only pay $20 for their registration before April 12th. April 12th - May 1st they will pay $25 for their registration. The team with the largest number of members will win a prize.

T-shirt Guarantee

Must be Registered by April 10th to be guaranteed a shirt.

Packet Pickup

• Early Pickup: To Be Announced at a later date
• On Site Day of Race: May 2nd, 6:30 am - 7:30 am

Age Groups for 5K Only

• 1-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, etc. 70+

Awards for 5K Only

• Top Overall Male & Female, & 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Male & Female each age group for the 5K
• Bayou Side Team Award: Largest Group

The Race Benefits

• Iberia Mental Health Initiative: The Iberia Mental Health Initiative is a coalition of concerned citizens dedicated to identifying and addressing the mental health needs of our community. All proceeds are poured back into the community to help raise awareness for mental health through programs and events.

Inclement Weather Policy

• No refunds will be given due to inclement weather. The safety of our athletes and volunteers is our primary concern. In the event of inclement weather, the race will continue under the following circumstances:
• Rain: the event will NOT be cancelled due to rain alone.
• Lightning: If lightning is seen or thunder is heard, the event will be postponed for a minimum of 20 minutes until no signs of the storm are present. Participants should seek shelter in their vehicles or a nearby building if available.
