🏃‍♂️ The Barley Chase Race Overview

The Barley Chase is a USATF Certified 5k/10k race located in Newport, NC. Race day is Sunday, October 19, 2025 at 9:00 am. The race starts and ends at Shortway Brewing Co. and meanders through the heart of Newport.

🎽 Participant Benefits

• T-shirt: Participants will receive a t-shirt.
• Finisher Medal: Each runner will earn a finisher medal.
• Post-Run Pints: Enjoy 2 complimentary post-run pints at the after party!!
• ID Check: All participants subject to ID check.

🏅 Awards and Age Divisions

• Overall Awards: Awards will be given to overall top 3 males & females.
• Age Divisions: Top 2 in each age division for both males and females.
• Age Categories: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & above.
• Water Stations: Water stations will be set up at the halfway points of each course.

📅 Packet Pickup Information

Packet pickup will take place Saturday, October 18th 12-2 PM at Shortway Brewing Co. or you can pick up the morning of the race starting at 8:00am at the registration table located behind the brewery on Haskett St.

📝 Registration Details

• Online Registration: Will close at 11:59 PM on Friday, October 17th or when the race sells out.
• Waitlist: Will open after race is full and will be on a first come first served basis.
• Email Notification: If a spot becomes available, first in line will receive an email and have 24 hours to register before it moves to the next in line.
• Early Bird Pricing: Runs through June 30th, after which prices increase by $5.

❤️ Community Benefit

This race is held annually in conjunction with Shortway Brewing Company's anniversary party and will benefit nonprofit 501(c)(3), Bread & Barley. Bread & Barley is a church that runs on volunteers and has no building expenses: therefore, all proceeds will be used to meet needs right here in our local community.
