The Barley Chase

🏃‍♂️ The Barley Chase Overview

• Event: The Barley Chase is a USATF Certified 5k/10k race located in Newport, NC.
• Date: Race day is Sunday, October 19, 2025 at 9:00 am.
• Start/Finish: The race starts and ends at Shortway Brewing Co. and meanders through the heart of Newport.
• Post-Race: Participants will receive a t-shirt, finisher medal, and 2 complimentary post-run pints at the after party!!

🎽 Awards and Age Divisions

• Awards: Awards will be given to overall top 3 males & females and the top 2 in each age division for both males and females.
• Age Divisions: Categories are 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & above.
• Water Stations: Water stations will be set up at the halfway points of each course.
• T-Shirt Size: T-Shirt size is not guaranteed for registrations after 8/31.

📅 Packet Pickup Information

• Date/Time: Packet pickup will take place Saturday, October 18th 12-2 PM at Shortway Brewing Co.
• Race Day Pickup: You can pick up the morning of the race starting at 8:00am at the registration table located behind the brewery on Haskett St.
• Online Registration: Online registration will close at 11:59 PM on Friday, October 17th or when the race sells out.
• Waitlist: Waitlist will open after the race is full and will be on a first come first served basis.

💰 Pricing and Registration

• Early Bird Pricing: Early Bird Pricing runs through June 30th, after which prices increase by $5.
• Nonprofit Benefit: This race is held annually in conjunction with Shortway Brewing Company's anniversary party and will benefit nonprofit 501(c)(3), Bread & Barley.
• Community Focus: Bread & Barley is a church that runs on volunteers and has no building expenses, therefore, all proceeds will be used to meet needs right here in our local community.
